Virtual Business Introductions for Women-Owned Businesses

IBM and Intel, WEConnect International corporate members, would like to invite women-owned businesses in the DACH region to participate in a series of virtual business introductions taking place in July 2020. These sessions are open to majority women-owned businesses (minimum 51% owned by one or more women) and would be of most interest to businesses operating in relevant corporate and B2B sectors. The sessions are also open to women-owned businesses from other countries who can provide their products and services in the German market and who speak business German.

The sessions will be 90 minutes each and will be conducted in a mix of German and English.

Participants will include a mix of representatives from IBM, Intel, their tier 1 suppliers, other WEConnect International corporate members as well as the WEConnect International team in Europe and women-owned businesses. During each session, women-owned businesses will have the chance to present a maximum two minute introduction of their business based on the training provided in the “Gelungene Selbstdarstellung in zwei Minuten” IBM session in June. A business does not need to have completed that training in order to join these sessions in July.

Additionally, women-owned businesses will gain general advice about winning business with multinational corporations and will be able to ask questions around business opportunities at IBM, Intel and at other corporates in the virtual sessions.

Please note that these sessions are not supplier diversity education sessions. They are focussed on increasing the visibility of women-owned businesses in the DACH region. We cannot guarantee any of the corporations will engage any of the participants for any current or future business opportunities but we hope that these sessions will generate more awareness of the capabilities provided by women-owned businesses.

The virtual business introduction sessions are broken into three categories and the dates are as follows:

Session #1: Marketing, Communications and Travel - bookings now closed
Time: 9am to 10.30am CET
Date: Thursday 2nd July 2020
A relevant business would be operating in the following types of sectors:
Marketing and communications including communication services, events agencies, market intelligence offerings, printing services. Travel including services and products around travel such as car rental, hotels, travel agencies, taxi services etc.

Session #2: Professional Services and Consultancy
Time: 9am to 10.30am CET
Date: Thursday 9th July 2020
A relevant business would be operating in the following types of sectors:
Professional services including complementary workforce services, business services and consulting services. Any businesses with a focus on technology should join session #3.

Session #3: Facilities Management and Technology
Time: 9am to 10.30am CET
Date: Thursday 16th July 2020
A relevant business would be operating in the following types of sectors:
Facilities management including site maintenance and facility services (e.g. cleaning, security services etc.), construction services, utilities (including electric, gas, water and environmental), furniture, carpeting and floor covering, catering and cafeteria services as well as maintenance and repair (supplies, clean room garments / supplies, office supplies and business cards).
Technology including IT products, service and maintenance, IT services (technical services and subcontracting), telecommunications, connectivity, hardware (including depot repairs / maintenance parts and repair services), software and software services.

Businesses are requested to select to attend one session that best suits their products and services. A maximum of 20 businesses will have the chance to present in each session so please register asap to secure your spot as presentation places are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Supplier Diversity at Intel
Inclusion of diverse-owned suppliers continues to be built into Intel’s operations and is outlined in their supplier diversity policy. Intel’s supplier diversity and inclusion program grew to 24 countries in 2019 and they continue their efforts working with NGOs like WEConnect International to identify and certify potential suppliers. They recognise a certified diverse supplier as being 51%+ owned and operated by a person in any of these categories: women, minority, veteran/service disabled, LGBT, and diverse-abled. They seek to generate more inclusive sourcing as demonstrated by reaching their goal to spend $1bn annually with diverse suppliers by the end of 2020 a year early. This achievement includes spending $279m with women-owned business globally exceeding their goal of $200m. Intel’s vision to grow a diverse and inclusive global supply chain does not stop here. Intel will build on this foundation, growing in more countries and through doubling their annual spending and expanding inclusive sourcing practices over the next decade.
