The WBE Council would like to invite you to attend our next WBE 2 WBE – Collaboration Driving Success event that is taking place on Tuesday 11th September 2018 at IBM in London. The event is free to attend but your place must be booked online.

This is an initiative solely for our certified WBEs and the WBE Council hope you will be interested in coming along!

Together, our certified WBEs generate over £200m worth of business each year and this event is an opportunity for our WBEs to get to know each other and to understand more about each other’s businesses. As the network of WBEs expands across Europe, there’s increased opportunity to work with each other and to use each other’s products and services and so we’d like to raise awareness of these opportunities within the network of our certified women-owned businesses.

The agenda for the day is designed to maximise the opportunity to connect and each WBE attending will be invited to briefly present their business to the group and share an 'ask'. There will be plenty of time for networking and we’ll also have knowledge sharing sessions from IBM on blockchain and from Skills4Stem on Agile as well as a panel discussion on connected/innovative supply chains with IBM, Mastercard, Skills4Stem and Sysdoc.

We would really love to see as many of the certified WBEs there as possible. We expect the day to be a very valuable experience for us all and one which will help us to forge new partnerships, learn new things and understand how we can all benefit more from being part of WEConnect International.

10am Arrivals and refreshments
10.30am Welcome and introduction - Maggie Berry - Executive Director for Europe, WEConnect International; Gill Thorpe - Managing Director, The Sourcing Team and Chair of the WBE Council and Andrea Fimian - EMEA Supplier Diversity Program Manager, IBM.
10.40am Blockchain Explained - a presentation from Caroline Church, IBM Blockchain Developer Tooling Lead. The presentation will be focussed on how blockchain can be used by SMEs, specifically service based SMEs. Blockchain is a shared, distributed ledger that sets out to provide the foundation for a new generation of transactional applications that establish trust and transparency, while streamlining business processes. This session gives an overview of blockchain, the Linux Foundation Hyperledger Fabric and IBM’s blockchain offerings. We will discuss why the technology is so important and how IBM can help on your path to adoption. Caroline is currently responsible for delivering developer tooling that enables blockchain developers to easily and rapidly build blockchain applications. As part of this role, Caroline leads a team of engineers and also is a prominent figure in the open source community around blockchain.

12pm Introduction to Agile – a presentation from Ric Cooke of Skills4Stem. Many companies are adopting agile methodologies to increase team performance and improve customer satisfaction. The event is aimed at the owners of our certified businesses but senior staff are welcome to attend. A maximum of two representatives from each company may register.

WBE Introduction Presentations
A key focus of the day is to ensure that we all get to know each other more so each WBE will be asked to very briefly present their business and share an 'ask' they currently have that other WBEs may be able to help them with. We know this doesn’t sound long but we want to fit these introductions in along with time for other presentations, the panel session, networking and Q&A. No PowerPoints will be shared and you’re welcome to bring flyers/handouts for the group.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Maggie or Gill on:
