Date & Time:
Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - 09:30 to 15:30

30 Fenchurch Street

*Please note that this event is exclusively for WEConnect International certified women's business enterprises

The WBE Council would like to invite you to attend our next WBE 2 WBE Day which is taking place on Tuesday 10th September at the offices of Accenture, a WEConnect International corporate member, in London. For more information, please click here.

Together, our certified WBEs generate over £200m worth of business each year and this event is an opportunity for our WBEs to get to know each other and to understand more about each other’s businesses. As the network of WBEs expands across Europe, there’s increased opportunity to work with each other and to use each other’s products and services and so we’d like to raise awareness of these opportunities within the network of our certified women-owned businesses.

For this WBE 2 WBE day, we have chosen the topic of international expansion as we know this will be very interesting and helpful for our WBEs and we are lucky to have one of our very own WBEs, Gibbs Hybrid, sharing their knowledge and experience with us.

The event is free to attend but there are limited spaces available so please register online here as soon as you can: https://weconnect-wbe2wbe-scaling-business-internationally.eventbrite.co.uk

We expect the day to be a very valuable experience for us all and one which will help us to forge new partnerships and understand how we can all benefit more from being part of WEConnect International.

Scaling your Business Internationally

It’s tempting to expand outside your home market. Thoughts of ‘business trips’ blending into weekend explorations, the stimulation of new languages, customs, markets, people. Properly managed, international expansion can balance your business by spreading the risk and opening new opportunities. It can trigger new investors and partners. But it can’t take the place of some deep thinking about your own business, your commitment to it and your own personal financial plans. It should be done from a position of strength, with the best impartial advice you can find, and with a clear-eyed view of what can go wrong.

In this intense, hands-on and interactive session learn some tools and tactics about going international and hear first-hand from Farida Gibbs, CEO of Gibbs Hybrid, a WEConnect International certified women's business enterprise and corporate member, and her team on the highs and lows of expanding her 13 year old company’s footprint outside the UK.

Since founded by Farida in 2005, Gibbs Hybrid embarked on a period of rapid growth with a CAGR of 29% y-o-y and by 2017 had reached $100million. Core to this success was the expansion into new geographical international markets. The hybrid ‘One-Stop Shop’ with three key business lines - Talent Solutions, Managed Solutions and Outsourced Solutions is now the largest minority woman-owned business in Europe.

Farida is committed to promoting and encouraging women-owned businesses through WEConnect International, our global network that connects women-owned businesses to qualified buyers around the world. In 2019, Gibbs Hybrid became the first WEConnect International European certified women's business enterprise (WBE) to have a seat on the Europe Advisory Council of the organisation.
