The topics covered in this presentation include how to communicate with your client, brand experience, key points of an elevator pitch as well as a quick diverse supplier survival guide.

10.30am – Maximum Impact with a Tiny Budget – presented by Sandra Sassow from SEaB Energy, a certified women-owned business. One of the biggest challenges small businesses face is how to stand out from the crowd despite the constraints of a minimal budget. Sandra will explain how SEaB Energy has overcome this issue by exploiting grants, awards, certifications and social media which have all contributed to winning precious funding to develop the business, raise its public and media profile and expand its network to grow a thriving business.

10.45am – An Introduction to WEConnect International Certification and the WBE Council – presented by Maggie Berry from WEConnect International in Europe and Gill Thorpe from the Sourcing Team. This short session will offer an overview of certification for majority owned women’s businesses including the benefits, the costs and the certification assessment process itself.

11am – Coffee Break

11.30am – Connect with your Audience through Online Video Marketing – presented by Janet Beck from GlassEye Productions, a certified women-owned business. Everyone’s talking about online video! It is the NOW of content marketing? Online video is changing the way businesses are connecting with audiences, leaving lasting impressions and converting them to customers. But how can you make it work for your business and create memorable content experiences. This session will introduce you to how to go about creating good online video content, what video marketing tools you can use to get a campaign started and how to optimise your videos for lead generation and conversion.

11.45am – Keynote Speaker: Mother, Wife, Serial Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, Sherry Coutu, CBE. Sherry will share her compelling story from growing up in a logging town in Canada to being told she was an entrepreneur by a fellow student whilst studying at the London School of Economics to when she floated her (second) company that was valued at more than $1bn and finally to today when she invests in the ideas of other entrepreneurs, supports charities as a philanthropist and acts as an advisor and director to a number of organisations. Communicating key lessons learned along the way, Sherry will also offer practical advice to entrepreneurs who have started (for profit or not-for-profit) companies that should shape the world we, our children and their children will live in. Awarded a CBE from the Queen in 2013 for ‘services to entrepreneurship’ and rated as the best CEO mentor in Europe by TechCrunch, Sherry has agreed to speak in the hope that the business leaders in the room will scale their companies to become globally dominant in their fields.

12.45pm - Networking Lunch - Meet and connect with other women business owners and representatives from WEConnect International’s corporate members.

1.45pm – Knowledge workshop: Corporates and SMEs: Collaborative Disruption - presented by Samad Masood from Accenture, a WEConnect International corporate member. Samad leads Accenture’s Open Innovation programme in the UK, driving engagement with technology start-ups and entrepreneurs that want to partner with Accenture. During this session, Samad will share valuable insights into: why disruptive activities need infrastructure and the support of large businesses to have impact; why most SMEs are unlikely to achieve much unless they partner with and trade with large businesses; what the differences are between how large businesses are perceived (both positive and negative) and what they actually contribute in reality; how large business representatives and SME representatives typically perceive each other/what are the hurdles to be overcome; how SMEs and large businesses can collaborate to generate more targeted value than the SME or the large business could on their own and finally, elements of Accenture’s business strategy as relates to SME collaboration (beyond anything you’ve heard before from Accenture).

2.30pm - Choice of breakout sessions run by certified women-owned businesses (your choice must be made when you register online for the conference):

3.30pm – Coffee Break

4pm – Knowledge workshop: “Oh Boy” World Class Supplier Collaboration Redefined led by Mark Baxa from Monsanto, a WEConnect International corporate member. You’ve often thought…. How do I truly know that what I have is what they want? How do I know that I have reached the pinnacle of business to business collaboration, and in fact, truly innovative collaboration? In this session, Mark will take you on a journey that builds on the latest thinking in strategic relationship building and moulds it into a most incredible, real life story that literally “silenced” the famous. You’ll be left with a heightened sense that you can achieve more. You too, can create the next “Oh Boy”!

4.45pm – WEConnect International Corporate Member Discussion Panel and Q&A. Chaired by Megan Stow from Intel, this session will offer the audience a chance to ask questions about supplier diversity, working successfully with our corporate members, understanding procurement processes and top tips for doing business. Panellists will be representatives from WEConnect International corporate members including Shirley Creed from Dell, Bruce Dorricott from RBS, Jamie Holman from AIG and Justin Lambert from Roche and questions can be submitted when you register online for the conference.

5.30pm – Business, Comedy and the Comedy of Business. Entrepreneur, writer and comedian Julia Streets wraps up the day with her unique take on business life. After Julia’s closing session of the conference, there will be a collection on behalf of Children in Crisis, a charity that was established to give children in some of the world’s poorest countries the education they need to help transform their lives. Julia is a trustee of the organisation and more information about them can be found here.

5.50pm - Thank you and Wrap-Up
